Understanding Objects, Events, and History in Jitra
Introduction
Before using Jitra, it is important to understand the three core concepts used throughout the platform: Objects, Events, and History.
These concepts work together to help monitor activities, detect important conditions, and record trip information.
Understanding them will make it easier to use features such as tracking, event monitoring, reporting, and integrations.
What Is an Object?
An Object is an entity being monitored in Jitra.
In many cases, an Object represents a vehicle such as a car, motorcycle, truck, or heavy equipment. However, Objects are not limited to vehicles.
An Object can represent anything that has a location and can provide data to Jitra, including:
- Operational vehicles
- Logistics vehicles
- Heavy equipment
- Mobile assets
- Personnel
- IoT devices
- Other location-based entities
Each Object can contain monitoring information such as:
- Last known location
- Last update time
- Object status
- Odometer
- Engine hours
- Battery voltage
- Sensor data
- Trip history
- Generated events
Objects and Devices
In Jitra, Objects and Devices are two different concepts.
An Object is the entity being monitored, while a Device is the source of data sent to the platform.
The relationship between them is not always one-to-one.
A single Device may be associated with multiple Objects, even across different organizations, depending on the implementation requirements.
When creating an Object, users must select the Device manufacturer and configure the Device according to the instructions provided by Jitra.
Object Statuses
Jitra automatically determines the status of each Object based on incoming GPS and sensor data.
There are four primary Object statuses:
Moving
The Object is currently moving based on GPS data received by the system.
Idle
The Object is not moving, but the ignition remains active.
This typically indicates that the vehicle is temporarily stopped while the engine is still running.
Stopped
The Object is not moving and the ignition is turned off.
Offline
The Object has not sent data to the server for more than six minutes.
This may occur because the Device is powered off, has lost network connectivity, or is experiencing communication issues.
What Is an Event?
An Event is a condition detected from GPS or sensor data based on rules configured by users.
Events help users identify important activities without continuously monitoring the map.
Common examples of Events include:
- Entering a geofence
- Exiting a geofence
- Overspeed
- Moving
- Ignition ON
- Ignition OFF
- Idle
- Sensor-based conditions
How Events Work
Unlike GPS data, which is sent directly by Devices, Events are generated by the system after evaluating configured rules.
The process works as follows:
Every time GPS data is received, Jitra evaluates all active Event rules to determine whether an Event should be generated. This allows organizations to automate monitoring and notification workflows.
Event Notifications
When an Event occurs, Jitra can store and distribute the Event as a notification.
Event notifications help users understand:
- When the Event occurred
- Which Object was involved
- Where the Event occurred
- What condition triggered the Event
This enables users to stay informed without constantly watching the tracking screen.
What Is History?
History is a record of trips and activities generated from data received by the system.
It helps users understand what happened during a specific period.
Using History, users can review:
- Travel routes
- Starting locations
- Destination locations
- Distance traveled
- Trip duration
- Stop duration
- Events that occurred during the trip
Trips and Events in History
The History page provides two main views.
Trips
The Trips view displays a summary of journeys completed by an Object during a selected time range.
Each trip typically includes:
- Start point
- End point
- Distance traveled
- Travel duration
- Route information
Events
The Events view displays all Events that occurred during the selected History period.
By combining trip and Event information, users can gain a more complete understanding of Object activities.

Most features in Jitra are built around the concepts of Objects, Events, and History.
For example:
- Tracking is used to monitor Objects in real-time.
- Events are used to detect important conditions automatically.
- History is used to review past activities and trips.
